Regarding the fire extinguishers, we noted on our inspection that per the California Code of Regulations Title 19, fire extinguishers are required to be mounted where visible and along a path of egress. It is however, not uncommon in a residential setting for them to be in a compartment or cabinet, this is due to the fact that the resident has firsthand knowledge of where it is located and doesn't necessarily rely on visibility to access the extinguisher - a little different than in the case of unfamiliar surroundings. Of course the other issue is the common occurrence of vandalism and kids discharging them. I would imagine that Paul would mount your extinguisher elsewhere if you requested it.
